What is the LDS Travel Network??? It is a bed and breakfast exchange for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When you join the network, you have access to and can stay in the homes of network members all over the world. You will also meet members of the Church from around the world when you host them in your home. The LDS Travel Network, therefore, makes traveling more accessible and more rewarding for you. You will make new LDS friends, save money, and see a greater variety of places than you might by utilizing "traditional" mass-tourism options. How does traveling work? How many doors will I have to knock on before I find a member of the network? No tracting involved here. By joining the network, you gain access to the Directory of Network members (available accommodations) throughout the world. As you plan your vacation, simply consult the directory and select the home(s) where you would like to stay. Information for each member in the directory such as occupation, interests, hobbies, etc. will help you get acquainted to your potential host - even before you contact them! Then, contact the Network member you wish to stay with to work out the details, as well as get more information about local attractions, etc. In addition to warm, LDS hospitality, your host will provide clean, comfortable accommodations and a serve-yourself continental breakfast - a home away from home! How does hosting work? Can I have people over to my house, too? Sure! In fact, all of the network members willingly make their homes available for other members to stay in from time to time. This is truly one of the most rewarding aspects of being a member of the LDS Travel Network - as many members can and do attest! When a potential guest contacts you - if the timing is convenient - you can arrange the details of the stay directly with them. And remember, you're not competing with the Crown Royal! Clean, comfortable accommodations and a simple, serve-yourself breakfast (cereal and juice, etc.) is all that's expected. You're supposed to enjoy the experience as much as your guests! Unless you're inclined to play personal "tour guide," your guests will be off to see the sights first thing in the morning and your family's schedule shouldn't be too disrupted. What are the fees for such a service? Does this cost a lot? I'm trying to save for my retirement, you know! Don't dip into that savings fund yet. Belonging to the LDS Travel Network only costs $35 a year. Compare that to an average night at a hotel and you can see how much further your vacation budget will go. One of our members happily exclaimed, "After just one night in a Network accommodation, I realized an impressive return on my investment!" (Rattle that off to a neighbor or ward member and they'll not only suspect that you're very smart, but that you earned an advanced degree in finance somewhere along the way…) How do referrals work? This sounds fun! Mind if I just tell one or two friends? Please do! Obviously the more members, the better. You'll not only want to use the network accommodations for vacations and business travel, but also for temple excursions, genealogy research trips, church history tours, and much more. What about Europe, South America, Australia...? The more members of the Church you know around the world, country, or just around the corner-the better! Please refer them to our website. Are there any guarantees? Can the Network assure me that the Wild Teacup ride won't be closed for repairs, and that my new camcorder won't get soaked by Shamu? No..., but we can guarantee clean, comfortable accommodations for a very reasonable price--free! Any Other Questions?
